Today’s installment of Music and Entertainment news starts with a great humanitarian mission from Rihanna. Do watch the video to the right, it certainly puts “Back to School” in a totally different perspective!
Rihanna recently traveled to the South African country of Malawi where she met with government officials, students and families from the village of Muzu. Rihanna’s foundation, the Clara Lionel Foundation has partnered with the bicycle sharing company ofo, in addition to working with the Global Scholarship Program to not only provide bicycles to students so they can actually get to school each day, but to also help improve the opportunities for students with Scholarship programs. “I’m so happy about the Clara Lionel Foundation’s new partnership with ofo because it will help so many young people around the world receive a quality education, and also help the young girls of Malawi get to school safely, cutting down those very long walks they make to and from school all alone,” Rihanna explains.

While performing his song “Don Henley Must Die” at an Austin nightclub, the psychobilly artist Mojo Nixon (go watch “Elvis is Everywhere” or Debbie Gibson is Pregnant With My Two Headed Love Child” – you’ll see (awesome and hysterical songs btw)) is surprised when Henley, who happened to be in the neighborhood, climbs up on stage and starts beatboxing along with it. Nixon says it was the first time in his life he was left speechless. Henley seeing the humor in the song forces his critics to rethink what they perceive as his earnest arrogance.
