Finally, a year where I’ve seen more than one or two of the Best Picture nominees. That’s right, this year I’ve seen…THREE! It may be a record.
Seriously, I think the ratings could be better for the Oscars this year, because there are some fan favorites in the running. And the nominees are:
- Black Panther
- Blackkklansman
- Bohemian Rhapsody
- The Favourite
- Green Book
- Roma
- A Star Is Born
- Vice
I’m going to pick “A Star Is Born,” because I thought that was the best of the 3 that I saw.
I saw “Black Panther” and of course loved it but didn’t see where it really elevated the Superhero movie genre to all of a sudden be receiving Best Picture nominations. I also saw “Bohemian Rhapsody,” but thought “A Star Is Born” was decidedly better.
I did end up seeing last year’s winner, “The Shape of Water” (and I really liked it), but this year, of the 5 nominees I missed, I don’t see any jumping out at me that I really want to see, to be honest. Maybe, like last year, learning more about them and why they’re so appreciated, will inspire me to check out something outside my routine. I have learned to try and keep an open mind, discover and enjoy one of the best art forms of our day. I hope you do too!
Enjoy the show!
