Broadway sounds like a great road trip to me!

Earlier, I was looking for news about how Sara Bareilles is doing as the lead actress for the Broadway play, “Waitresses” to which she scored the production, and was pleasantly surprised to find that not only has Sara set a one-night box office record of $180k, she is in company with some of the world’s most well known actresses who are currently starring in Broadway productions!

I learned that Bette Midler is starring in the revival of “Hello Dolly”, Glenn Close has returned to her role as Norma Desmond in “Sunset Boulevard”, Sally Field is performing in Sam Gold’s version of “The Glass Menagerie” (a required reading when I was in school (written by Arthur Miller), Kevin Kline in the revival of Noel Coward’s “Present Laughter”, and so many others!!

If you have the opportunity, take a trip to the Big Apple, and take in a show or two, or three… this year’s Broadway offerings are spectacular! And of course, if you can get a ticket to Waitresses, do so, because I am pretty sure Sara is going to be up for at least two Tony’s if not more!

Last but not least, support all of our extremely talented locally produced theatre productions: Agatha Christie’s “Witness For The Prosecution” at the Church Hill Theatre through April 9th; Ken Ludwig’s “Lend Me A Tenor” which opens April 27th for the Tred Avon Players in Oxford, MD, and one of my favorite summer pastimes, Shore Shakespeare’s production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, with the curtain (so to speak), on June 2nd at Adkins Arboretum. Shore Shakespeare’s traveling troupe will be touring the Mid-Shore throughout June so don’t miss it!

Embrace the theatre and have a great Tuesday!
