The Friday Roundup

HAPPY Friday friends!

Top of the news this morning, the rain that is on the way for the weekend, and well, it\’s the weekend! Forecasters are warning that this weekend\’s N\’orEaster will bring substantial rainfall to our area, so if you live in an area that is prone to flooding, take precautions, be safe, and stay dry!

In the music and entertainment world…

Madonna helped lend her star power to Leonardo DiCaprio\’s foundation event in St. Tropez Wednesday evening. The auction and gala netted 30 million dollars and included a whole host of star studded auction items including the chance to bid and win a lunch in New York City with Kate Winslet and Leonardo in a Titanic reunion. Read more about the fundraiser and about the DiCaprio Foundation here

Nickelback fans, somehow, we missed the news, but they DO have a new album, FEED THE MACHINE. It was released at the beginning of June and I\’ll be taking a listen soon! They will be at Hershey Park on August 5th.

Another concert coming to DC is one you will want to be sure to check out is Coldplay on August 5th! Reading the reviews of their shows around the country thus far, Chris Martin and the band put on a stellar show.

From the anything is possible book, John Mellencamp, who dated Christie Brinkley, has recently been spotted with former girlfriend Meg Ryan… and there is some speculation they might be getting back together even despite the very Taylor Swift like quote from last year, that Meg said, \”we are never, never, ever getting back together.\” Guess we shall see!

Out in theatres this weekend, Atomic Blonde with Charlize Theron, Valerian, to which Rihanna has a small part in, and the next animated film that tends to make me shake my head. I know I should not be surprised after The Lego Movies and Angry Birds had so much success, but still. A movie about emojis? Other movies I\’m still wanting to try to get to, Wonder Woman (I know! I can\’t believe I haven\’t seen it yet either!), Dunkirk, and maybe the House. I do like Amy Pohler, but well, ya really need to be in the right mood for her comedy. We\’ll see. Might have to just wait until they come out on RedBox.

For the Classic Lunch department, of course, the BIGGEST Classic News is Classic East in New York this weekend… An amazing lineup, and boy oh boy, to be backstage at that show would be amazing. Looking forward to seeing who makes additional guest appearances at the concerts too. Seriously, if you have the chance to go, there are (unbelievably) still tickets available. Check out the promo video. Seriously, if I didn\’t already have numerous important commitments for this weekend, I\’d be there!

This weekend was also pretty big back in 1973…Over 600,000 people attend the then-biggest rock festival in history at the Watkins Glen Raceway in upstate New York to hear the Grateful Dead, the Band, and the Allman Brothers Band.

Last bit of news for this Friday edition… tis\’ the meteor shower season, and while this weekend isn\’t forecasted to be great for meteor shower viewing, the Aquariids meteor shower runs through the 30th… The Perseid Meteor Showers will also be amping up as we move into August, which is remarkably, just. around. the. corner.

Have a great weekend friends, drive slowly, and be safe! I\’ll catch ya on the dial on Monday starting at 10am.
