Need tickets for “Springsteen on Broadway”?
You’re not alone. Now, you can enter an auction for front-row center tickets to the Thursday, Oct.12 opening night of the show at the intimate Walter Kerr Theatre. The auction will benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and it sounds like it’s going to be pricey. The group suggests bids start with a minimum donation of $25,000.
No tickets have been sold to the Oct. 12 performance. Previews begin on Tuesday, Oct. 3.
Bidding begins noon Tuesday, Sept. 19.
“In a blind auction, bidders submit their best bid once, without knowing the amount offered by other participants,” according to the Broadway Cares web site. “The submissions will end at 5 p.m. EST on Thursday, Sept. 21. The highest bidders will be notified by Broadway Cares on Friday, Sept. 22, and the winning bids will become donations to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
“Winners will sit in the front row of the intimate Walter Kerr Theatre as Springsteen makes his Broadway debut. No tickets have been sold for this opening night performance. With the exception of the auction winners, all tickets are available by invitation only, with none sold to the public.”
1. All seats for this blind auction are in the first row, center orchestra, according to Broaday Cares.
2. Your bid is per ticket. If you are interested in more than one ticket and you have the winning bid, know that you will be charged for each ticket.
3. Winners will be notified via email and/or phone on Friday. Sept. 22.
4. Winners will need to pick up their ticket in person (with photo ID) at the Broadway Cares office between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12.
Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS helps men, women and children across the country and across the street receive lifesaving medications, health care, nutritious meals, counseling and emergency financial assistance, according to the group’s web site.
“Springsteen on Broadway” is going to be a two-hour solo performance with spoken interludes.
